Sam Morsy attracting interest from Sheffield Wednesday – Report
Morsy has lived a volatile season with Wigan this term, with the majority of it constrained to fight with the bottom half of the table teams to avoid going down to League 1.
While it was by no means easy, Wigan have stayed up and it is in part due to the defensive work of their captain Morsy. This can be seen as just five players have completed more tackles in the league this season according to the league’s official statistics.
And the 27-year-old noticeable defensive displays were not overlooked, as Sheffield Wednesday appear to be one of a number of clubs interested in the midfielder, according to Sky Sports.
Wednesday have enjoyed a flourishing form since the appointment of Steve Bruce that saw them finish in the 12th place with 64 points.
It is worth noting that Steve Bruce has various experience managing Egyptian players after working with Ahmed Elmohamady, Ahmed Hossam ‘Mido’, Ahmed Fathi, Amr Zaki, and Mohamed Nagy ‘Gedo’ in the past.
He has also managed two clubs owned/partially owned by Egyptians in Hull City and Aston Villa and was linked with a move to Cairo giants Al Ahly last December, before taking charge of the Owls.
