Egypt’s Amro Tarek makes MLS Team of the Week
Egypt international Amro Tarek was named in the Major League Soccer Team of the Week for round 12 after his impressive performance against Atlanta United.
The 27-year-old helped New York Red Bulls record their fifth league win of the season following a tough 1-0 victory over Atlanta United on Sunday.
During the game, Atlanta United’s Josef Martínez managed to beat Amro Tarek and left him on the ground, however, Tarek was able to stop the ball while still lying on the ground just as Martinez was about to strike.
Tarek’s defensive efforts and long trackback run to deny Josef Martinez a shooting opportunity in the first half earned him the man of the match award, in addition to a spot in this week’s MLS TOTW.

The Egyptian International’s efforts resulted in a clean sheet for the Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena, which moved the club up to the sixth place in the Eastern Conference.
Tarek, who has two caps for Egypt to his name, has made eight appearances out of 13 games this season, scoring one while helping his side keep two clean sheets.
Nevertheless, Tarek was not able to make Egypt’s preliminary squad for this summer’s African Cup of Nations and will be hoping to play in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted by Cameroon.
