Ghana release provisional squad for Africa Cup of Nations

head coach James Kwesi Appiah has released his 29-man provisional squad for the (AFCON) in June.

The Black Stars have been drawn in Group F with Benin, Guniea-Bissau, and 2017 AFCON champions Cameroon.

Veteran forward Asamoah Gyan had announced his retirement from the national team on Monday for being stripped of his captaincy.

The 33-year-old then reversed his decision on Wednesday and returned to the national team after holding talks with Ghana’s president Nana Akufo-Addo.

Full squad

Goalkeepers: Richard Ofori, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Felix Annan.

Defenders: John Boye, Abdul Rahman Baba, Andy Yiadom, Lumor Agbeyenu, Kassim Nuhu, Jonathan Mensah, Joseph Aidoo, Nuhu Musah, Joseph Attamah Laweh, Mohammed Al-Hassan.

Midfielders: Mubarak Wakaso, Thomas Partey, Kwadwo Asamoah, Ebenezer Ofori, Afriyie Acquah, Andre Ayew, Christian Atsu, Owusu Samuel, Thomas Agyapong, Yaw Yeboah, Abdul Fatawu Safiu.

Forwards: Jordan Ayew, Majeed Waris, Caleb Ekuban, Kwabena Owusu, Asamoah Gyan.
