Al Ahly release statement regarding league schedule amendments
Cairo giants Al Ahly have announced that club president Mahmoud El-Khatib is holding a continuous reunion along with first team director of football Sayed Abdel-Hafiz to decide on new league schedule amendments and postponed games.
Al Ahly were recently held in the league by Ismaily in a 1-1 stalemate in a postponed game from the 18th round of the Egyptian Premier League for the Red Devils to squander two important points in their league pursuit.
The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) have recently released new dates for the final matchday of the league along with two games for the league title rivals Zamalek. Al Ahly announced El-Khatib and Abdel-Hafiz pondered the club’s stance from the new schedule updates for the remaining league games, which were subject to controversy for most of the league clubs especially that it has an effect on the league title battle as well as the relegation battling fight.
The league title holders spoke in an official statement about their flexibility in accepting to play every 72 hours in a certain period of the season and their collaboration with the EFA. They also stated that the rescheduling of the remaining league games is against the fair play rules and letting all teams play their games in similar circumstances to ensure transparency and integrity.
Al Ahly said that El-Khatib and Abdel-Hafiz pointed out to the extreme harm that will occur to all clubs in the case postponing some games to be played after Africa Cup of Nations, confirming that consultations between club president and the director of football will recommence on Friday.
