Egypt’s Trezeguet captains Kasimpasa in Besiktas away defeat
Egypt international Mahmoud ‘Trezeguet’ gas captained Kasimpasa during their 3-2 loss to Besiktas in the final fixture of the Turkish Super Lig.
The game could be Trezeguet’s last one for the Turkish side after he has confirmed that he is set to leave Kasmipasa next summer as the club promised to let him go.
Trezeguet has been at Kasimpasa since July 2017, joining the club on loan from Anderlecht, before they made the move permanent last summer.
Since then, Trezeguet has scored 25 goals while assisting 18 in 71 games across all competitions, which resulted in several European clubs gaining interest in signing the former Al Ahly player.
And to honour him, Trezeguet was handed the captaincy in Kasimpasa’ final game of the season, which saw them suffer a 3-2 away defeat to Besiktas.
Just ten minutes into the game Turkish youngster Güven Yalçın opened the scoring for his side, however, three minutes later Haris Hajradinović equalised for Kasimpasa.
In the last minutes of the first-half Yalcin scored two goals to complete his hattrick, before Guinea’s Bengali-Fodé Koita pulled one back for the visitors in the 67th minute.
The result means that Kasimpasa will finish the league season in the 14th place with 39 points, only five away from the relegation zone.
Trezeguet has been linked with a number of European clubs, namely French giants Olympique Lyonnais, Galatasaray and Beşiktaş of Turkey, Germany’s VfB Stuttgart, Italian sides Lazio and Napoli, as well as Czech club Sparta Prague.
