Christian Gross talks about the final, Omar El-Saeed’s suspension
The White Knights are currently losing 1-0 on aggregate after conceding a late goal against RS Berkane in the first leg.
However, Christian Gross believes that Zamalek have come a long way in the tournament and they are still in this tie.
“The RS Berkane game will be our 16th in the competition this season. It’s a long journey that I hope will end in triumph.
“Our goal from the beginning was to win the Confederation Cup. I hope we can achieve that. We have a huge chance to win the title.
“I think the result in Morocco could give us an advantage going into the second leg. We were hoping that we don’t concede any away goals.
“I trust the players’ abilities at Zamalek. They have the courage and intelligence to pull off a comeback,” he added.
The Swiss manager was also asked about forward Omar El-Saeed, who will miss the game due to suspension, and how they will cope without him.
“We have three options to replace him [Omar El-Saeed]. The first option is Khaled Boutaib, the second option is playing Hamid Ahaddad, and the third option is playing both of them,” said Gross.
Zamalek host RS Berkane in the second leg of the 2019 CAF Confederation Cup final on Sunday. Kick-off is set to take place 20:00 GMT.
