Egypt’s Mahmoud Trezeguet nearing Galatasaray move – Report
Following his very successful first season with Kasimpasa, Trezeguet managed to replicate his top class performances in the following year having scored nine and provided 10 assists in 38 games.
These performances earned him a spot in the Turkish League’s Team of the Year, which caught the eye of several European clubs such as Olympique Lyonnais and Turkish giants Fenerbahce, who showed interest in the 24-year-old.
Now according to Turkish outlet TRT Spor, Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray are very close to signing the Egyptian in the upcoming transfer window.
The Istanbul-based club were crowned as the Turkish Super Lig champions last season after a fierce competition with Besiktas, Trabzonspor, Istanbul Basaksehir, which saw Galatasaray win the league by only two points ahead of the latter.
They have also managed to win the Turkish Cup after beating Akhisarspor in the final and were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League group stages.
Due to them winning the league title, they will participate in next year’s Champions League starting directly from the group stages and will face Turkish Cup runners-up Akhisarspor in the Super Cup.
Trezeguet has been at Kasimpasa since July 2017, joining the club on loan from Anderlecht, before they made the move permanent last summer.
Since then, Trezeguet has scored 25 goals while assisting 18 in 71 games across all competitions, as well as captaining the club in their final game last season.
The former RSC Anderlecht man will also represent Egypt in the upcoming AFCON as he was included in Javier Aguirre’s 23-man squad.
