Egypt AFCON opponents: Zimbabwe hold Nigeria to draw in final friendly
The Pharaohs were placed in group A alongside Uganda, DR Congo, and Zimbabwe, with their opening game taking place against the latter on June 21.
Zimbabwe played their final friendly against Nigeria in Lagos before heading to Egypt to take part in their only fourth AFCON.
Both teams fielded their starting XI, with the likes of Ahmed Musa, Alex Iwobi, Henry Onyekuru and John Obi Mikel featuring for Nigeria, while Zimbabwe’s most notable name was Khama Billiat.
However, the Warriors managed to hold Nigeria to a dull 0-0 away, the same opponent which Egypt suffered a 1-0 defeat against in their last game, which took place in March.
The Super Eagles will still play one last friendly before the start of the tournament and it will be against Senegal on June 16.
Nigeria were drawn in an easy group B alongside Guinea, Madagascar, and Burundi. They will start their campaign against the latter, before facing Gunia and Madagascar in order.
