Elneny joins Egypt training camp ahead of AFCON
Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has joined the national team training camp as Egypt continue preparations for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
The box to box midfielder has been unable to maintain a regular place in the Arsenal setup, however he was still able to get a decent amount of minutes in the UEFA Europa League where the Gunners made it to the final before losing comfortably to local rivals Chelsea.
However, Elneny will now look to go one step further with Egypt after being a key player in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations run to the final where he scored the opening goal before a dramatic late comeback by Cameroon.
Wherever Elneny plays next season remains a mystery, but for now all of his focus will be on the national team as his preparations will begin now.
Egypt will now play friendlies against Tanzania and Guinea before kicking off the tournament with a match against Zimbabwe on Friday 21st of June at 10pm Egyptian time.
