have suffered a blow as they have lost midfielder to injury ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The 22 year old was expected to play a starring role for the Cranes this summer, however an unfortunate injury in their training camp in the United Arab Emirates means that he will be unable to make it.

In a statement on the FUFA website, they said “The technical team has confirmed the player will not take any part further in the camp in Abu Dhabi following medical assessment of the injury. Plans are underway to organise his travel back home for further treatment and recovery of the injury.”

Waiswa is the reigning FUFA player of the year, highlighting how big of a miss this could prove to be.

Uganda will now play a friendly against Ivory Coast before kicking off their tournament against DR Congo on Saturday 22nd of June at 4:30PM local time.
