Al Ahly, Pyramids FC in battle to sign Al Masry’s Islam Issa
Islam Issa has exploded onto the scene with Al Masry following his arrival from Al Nasr in the January of 2018 after a club record signing of 10m EGP.
The 23-year-old has made 46 appearances for the Portsaid-based club in the domestic competitions, scoring nine goals while providing seven assists as he helped them secure top-four finishes in back to back seasons.
Issa, who is yet to make his international debut for the Pharaohs, has also guided the club to the semi-finals of the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup, before suffering a heavy defeat to AS Vita Club.
And after a number of scintillating performances for Al Masry, Issa could be on his way out of the club this summer, with Al Ahly and Pyramids FC submitting an official offer for him.
“We have received offers from clubs inside and outside Egypt for Islam Issa,” Mohamed El-Khouly told Nile Sports.
“The local offers are from Al Ahly and Pyramids FC, and there is a Turkish offer for the player as well.
“Islam wants to join one of these three clubs and Al Masry have the intention of selling the player.
“We will announce our final decision in the upcoming few days,” he added.
Issa is tied down to a contract at Al Masry until the summer of 2023, but it’s believed that the winger could leave the club sooner than that.
In case Issa moves to Al Ahly, he will become the first player to move directly from Al Masry to the Cairo giants since the 2012 Port Said stadium disaster.
