Nabil Emad ‘Dunga’: Mohamed Salah is Egypt’s ‘symbol’
Dunga played the whole second-half in Egypt’s last test before the start of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which saw the Pharaohs beat Guinea 3-1.
Despite being on top at the beginning of the second-half, Egypt conceded a goal allowing Guinea to put the scores back level. Arab Contractors striker Ahmed Ali scored the second goal in the 77th minute, before Omar Gaber added the third in the 86th minute.
Pyramids FC midfielder Nabil Emad ‘Dunga’ has talked about Salah’s importance for the national team and the benefits they got from the Guinea game.
“I thank god for the performance and the result. It was a tough game against a strong national team,” Dunga told Time Sports.
“We benefited a lot from the Guinea friendly, we performed well and we achieved a positive result.
“Aguirre told us about the opponent’s strength and that the game was going to be tough, which was the case.
“Salah is the national team’s symbol, actually the whole country’s. Everyone is happy with his presence.
“Salah performed really well against Guinea and god willing we’ll win the AFCON,” he concluded.
Egypt are set to kick-off their AFCON journey on Friday, June 21 against Zimbabwe in the Cairo International Stadium.
The hosts were also drawn alongside DR Congo and Uganda whom they’ll face on June 26 and June 30 respectively.
