Egypt U-23 secure second victory over Saudi Arabia in friendly
Egypt’s U-23 national team have beaten Saudi Arabia 1-0 in an international friendly that took place in Cairo.
Egypt had scheduled two games against Saudi Arabia in the September international break in preparation for the U23 AFCON taking place in Egypt next November.
This tournament is also the way for African teams to secure their spot in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, as the top three teams directly qualify for the finals.
The Young Pharaohs were thrashed their opponents 4-1 in their first encounter thanks to goals from Ramadan Sobhi, Salah Mohsen, Ahmed Abo El-Fotooh and Taher Mohamed Taher.
Egypt were also able to impose their control over the course of the game but Saudi Arabia’s defense managed to stop most of their chances. However Osama Galal’s header was enough to gift his side the win.
