Egypt U-23 draw against South Africa
With less than a month away until the start of the U-23 African Cup of Nations, hosts Egypt have booked two games against South Africa in order to prepare for the tournament.
The first game took place on Friday night in the Ismailia Stadium and after it was agreed between both coaching staffs, the game was divided into three halves in order to give an opportunity for all players to participate.
El Gouna forward Ahmed Yasser Rayan scored the only goal for the Pharaohs in the first-half while the Bafana Bafana managed to comeback later on into the game. Both sides will face each other yet again on Sunday October 13th.
The U-23 AFCON is a gateway for African countries to participate in the upcoming 2020 Olympics in Tokyo as the top three teams directly qualify for the finals.
The groups for the continental competition have already been revealed with host nation Egypt getting drawn alongside Mali, Cameroon and Ghana in Group A. Meanwhile South Africa were placed in a tough Group B with the likes of Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Zambia.
