South Africa reveal U-23 AFCON squad

have revealed their 21-man squad ahead of the upcoming U-23 AFCON in Egypt.

The U-23 AFCON will take place in Egypt between Novemeber 8th and November 22nd in Egypt. The organising committee chose El-Salam stadium and the Cairo International Stadium as the only venues for the tournament.

The Bafana Bafana were drawn in Group B alongside defending champions Nigeria as well as Zambia and Ivory Coast. Their opening game will be against Zambia on Nobember 9th, before facing Ivory Coast and Nigeria on the 12th and the 15th respectively.

Ajax Cape Town is the most represented club in the squad as the team’s quartet, Darren Johnson, Keagan Johannes, Thendo Mukumela and Grant Margeman topped the squad despite playing the South African second division.

Former Al Ahly forward Phakamani Mahlambi also made the cut along with Moreirense’s Luther Singh.
