MOTM, Moustafa Mohamed, reflects on Egypt’s win over Mali

U-23 national team striker talked about winning the Man of the Match award and discusses their ambitions.

Egypt managed to secure a narrow 1-0 win over Mali in their opening game in the U-23 AFCON.

21-year-old striker, Moustafa Mohamed, scored the only goal in the 30th minute, which earned the Man of the Match award.

“We won’t celebrate after winning the first game,” Mohamed said.

“We [the players] will talk amongst each other and discuss the importance of qualifying for the knockout stages and qualify for the Olympics.

“The Mali was very tough and the coaching staff are doing a great job in analysing our opponents.

“We’re all in this together, we hope to reach the knockout stages then we’ll think about lifting the title,” he concluded.

Egypt are temporarily on top of Group A with three points ahead of their anticipated clash against Ghana on the 11th of November.
