Ahmed Gomaa leaves Egypt camp due to injury

striker has been ruled out of Egypt’s camp in Alexandria after picking up an injury on Friday training that will force him to miss the Pharaohs’ upcoming encounter against in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Egypt began their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a disappointing draw at home against Kenya on Thursday with Kahraba and Olunga scoring the goals.

The game was the first official fixture for newly appointed manager Hossam El-Badry at the helm of the Egyptian national team.

According to a statement released by the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), Gomaa sustained an injury in his knee in a duel between him and one of his teammates during Friday’s morning training that forced him to leave the training camp.

As a result, the player have remained in Egypt to undergo medical and MRI tests to understand the exact extent of his injury.

The Pharaohs’ have already flown out on their way to Comoros to face Les Coelacantes on Monday in the second round of the AFCON qualifiers.
