Sam Morsy scores in Wigan’s 2-1 defeat to Stoke City
Sam Morsy started the game for Wigan as the former Barnsley man played the full 90 minutes.
The 28-year-old opened the scoring for Wigan in the first half after capitalizing on a howler from Stoke keeper Jack Butland in the 37th minute.
However, Stoke managed to get the equalizer through Danny Batth, who headed the ball home for his side after a delightful cross from James McClean.
The home side piled more pressure on Wigan and completed their comeback in the 93rd minute as Mame Biram Diouf poked the ball into the back of the net from close range.
With this result, Wigan are now 20th in the Championship table with 15 points in 17 games played.
The Lactics’ next game will be against 10th-placed Millwall at the Millwall Holdings PLC stadium in the Championship on Tuesday. Kick-off takes place at 21:45 CLT.
