Mortada Mansour discusses Micho’s future, imposes hefty fine on players
Zamalek president Mortada Mansour has talked about the future of under-fire manager, Milutin ‘Mihco’ Sredojevic, saying that a decision has been made.
The White Knights had a disappointing week as they suffered two consecutive defeats to mount more pressure on Micho.
A 2-1 defeat to Enppi in the league on Monday followed by a 3-0 defeat to TP Mazembe five days later has left the club’s management and it’s fans in immense frustration.
Speaking about Zamalek’s recent defeat to Mazembe, Mortada Mansour confirmed that a decision regarding Micho’s future has been made, but refuses to announce it in the meantime.
“Of course, we are very disappointed after the Enppi and Mazembe games. But there have been mistakes from the staff and players,” Mansour told reporters.
“Zamalek’s board had a meeting and we made a unanimous decision regarding Micho’s future, but I will not announce it today.
“I will meet with him [Micho] first on Monday because he has some personal issues that he wants to discuss with me. Our decision will be announced after that meeting.
“What we’ve seen from the players recently does not represent Zamalek at all,” he added.
Despite a poor run of results, a number of Zamalek players have come out on social media and publicly supported Micho.
In response, Mansour then imposed a EGP 300,000 fine for any player that uses his accounts on social media.
Zamalek are currently fourth in the Egyptian Premier League table with ten points after five games played.
The White Castle’s next game will be against El-Sharkia in the Egypt Cup’s round of 32 on Wednesday. Kick-off takes place at 19:30 CLT.
