Al Ahly and Al Wehda to sign twinning agreement
Egyptian side Al Ahly have initially agreed to sign a twinning agreement with Saudi club Al Wehda starting February 2020.
Al Wehda have released a statement where they revealed that they have reached an agreement with Al Ahly to sign a twinning agreement between both clubs.
Several Al Ahly representatives, including head of the volleyball sector Khaled Abo-Zina and the head coach Nour Attia, traveled to Saudi Arabia to discuss the terms of the agreement.
The statement revealed that this will allow both clubs to ‘spread more awareness on the sports, social and cultural levels’. Additionally, it will help them organize sports encounters between the different sports teams.
The deal is yet to be finalized with the final touches on the agreement set to be done by the beginning of February 2020.
Al Wehda have already been involved with several Egyptian sport figures in the past years. Three Egyptian managers have already led their football side including Bashir Abdelsamad (2012), Adel Abdelrahman (2016-2017) and Ahmed Hossam ‘Mido’ (2018-2019).
More recently, current Zamalek goalkeeper Mohamed Awad spent a season on loan with the Knights of Mecca when he was at Ismaily.
