Smouha president discusses league return, Hossam Hassan rumours
The Egyptian Premier League has been halted since 14 March due to the coronavirus outbreak as the total number of COVID-19 cases in Egypt reached more than 9,500 cases.
The Egyptian Football Association recently extended the suspension of football activities for the fourth time until the end of May with many clubs facing financial repercussions due to the pandemic.
“I hope the league resumes,” Amer told local radio broadcast. “Clubs were established so that they play and compete for titles.
“Many countries around the world have made the decision to resume football activities, and Egypt should do the same. Life must return to normal in all aspects, not just football,” he added.
Amer also went on to discuss the transfer rumours surrounding Smouha’s forward, Hossam Hassan, saying they will be listening to offers in the summer.
“We received an offer from an American side but we haven’t agreed on financial terms yet, we also rejected other loan offers because we are looking to sell the player.
“Also, we certainly did not set an EGP 20 million price tag for Hassan as reported, but we will be receiving offers for him and we’ll choose the best one for the club and the player.”
Smouha are currently sixth in the Egyptian Premier League table with 25 points after 18 games played this season.
