Al Ahly fine Hossam Ashour over recent comments
Ashour recently released a video on his Instagram account where he criticized the Al Ahly board for not organizing a testimonial game ahead of his retirement, as promised.
The 34-year-old also revealed that the Reds had offered him a deal on Al Ahly TV as a pundit.
After disclosing this information, Ashour was handed a fine by the club’s footballing director, Sayed Abdelhafiz, as he appeared on social media without the latter’s permission which goes against their rules and regulations.
Additionally, Abdelhafiz revealed that he will send the video to the planning committee and expects them to make the right decision.
Ashour’s contract with Al Ahly is set to run out at the end of the season with the club announcing that they will not be renewing his contract.
He will be leaving as the most decorated player in the club’s history with a total of 34 trophies including 12 Egyptian Premier League trophies, three Egypt Cups, Eight Egyptian Super Cups, five CAF Champions League trophies, one Confederation Cup and five CAF Super Cups.
