ENPPI accept league resumption under one condition

’s director of football Abdelnasser Mohamed has assures the club is in favour of restarting the current season if training returns on June 15.

The Egyptian Premier League has been halted since 14 March as the number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise, reaching more than 25,000 cases in Egypt.

Egypt’s Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, had announced that sports activities will gradually return, indicating that the league could resume in mid-June.

In a televised interview, Egyptian Football Association’s president remained wary over the Premier League’s fate for the 2019/2020 season.

“I strongly backed resuming the league, but if we do not return to activity by June 15 under a certain medical protocol it will be difficult to resume the season and it would hold an effect on the following season,” Mohamed told ON Sport FM.

“We must return to action under certain medical precautions and the preparation period shall not be less than six weeks.”

It is worth noting that a decision regarding the 2019/2020 football season will be made following the crisis committee assembly next week.
