Egypt FA: Players, staff, club officials to undergo PCR tests
The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) have issued a statement, saying that all players and club staff will undergo PCR tests starting from Sunday.
Egyptian football has been halted since 14 March as the total number of COVID-19 cases reached more than 50,000 cases.
However, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Ashraf Sobhi, had announced that the Egyptian Premier League would start July 25th with teams returning to training this month.
The EFA had stressed that all players must take the PCR test twice, with at least five days separating each test while also explaining that positive results will be disclosed privately in order to respect the player’s privacy.
Two days later, the EFA released a statement, asserting that the tests will begin on Sunday to reassure all members across Egyptian football that the league return would be safe.
Their statement also revealed that many clubs had asked for the PCR tests to start on Sunday in order to begin the precautionary measures as early as possible.
