Zamalek withdraw from Egyptian Premier League

president, , announced his club’s withdrawal from the after the government’s decision to resume the league.

All football activities in Egypt have been suspended since mid-March due to the coronavirus outbreak.

And despite the increasing amount of cases, who have now surpassed 58,000 confirmed cases, Sports Minister, Ashraf Sobhi, announced that the Egyptian Premier League would start July 25th with teams returning to training this month.

Several clubs including Zamalek, Ismaily and Al Masry have publicly denounced the decision while others such as Al Ahly supported it.

Mansour also went on to attack the government’s decision during an interview on Zamalek TV and said that his players and manager will decide whether to withdraw from the league or not.

He now published on his Facebook page that Zamalek with draw from the tournament after consulting the first team manager Patrice Carteron.

He also revealed that all the information regarding the meeting will be disclosed tonight on the club’s tv channel.
