has scored a vital winning goal against Arsenal to move Aston Villa out of the relegation zone with only one game left to play.

The Villains received huge news before the start of the game as their relegation contenders Watford were thrashed 4-0 by Manchester City.

The result meant that a victory for Villa against Arsenal would lift the club out of the relegation zone for the first time since February.

Dean Smith started the game with his usual starting 11, which saw both Mahmoud Trezeguet and Ahmed Elmohamdy starting.

However, Elmohamdy were subbed off after just 25 minutes due to an injury and was replaced Frederic Guilbert.

Two minutes later, another Egyptian was under the spotlight as Mahmoud Trezeguet fired Villa into the lead, latching onto a corner to fire a brilliant volley in at Martinez’s near post.

The goal raised Trezeguet’s tally this season to six goals in 33 Premier League appearances, and seven across all competitions, as he becomes the club’s second top scorer across all competitions behind Jack Grealish.

The hosts had a lot of chances to double the scoreline through Grealish, Guilbert, and and McGinn, but it was Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah who nearly scored after his header hit Pepe Reina’s post in the 78th minute.

Trezeguet’s side managed to tighten their defence in the dying moments of the game and sealed a valuable win, which could see them stay up next season.

Villa are currently 17th with 34 points, ahead of Watford on goal difference. They will travel to London for their final Premier League game of the season against West Ham as a win would 100% secure their Premier League survival.

Meanwhile, Watford will face Arsenal at the Emirates, but will need Villa to drop points in order to keep matters onto their own hands.
