Report: Serie A outfit targets Ramadan Sobhi
Serie A club Bologna have reportedly set their sights on Huddersfield Town’s outcast Ramadan Sobhi amid uncertainty about his future with the player seeking a move away from the English side.
Sobhi spent the last two seasons at his boyhood club Al Ahly on loan from Huddersfield Town and was expected to remain with the Reds at least one more season.
However, he decided to leave the Reds for rivals Pyramids FC, despite Al Ahly having their offer accepted by the English club.
Huddersfield Chief Executive has also recently revealed that Cairo giants Zamalek made a formal bid for the 23-year-old.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Bologna’s latest transfer market target is Sobhi with the Rossoblu intending to move concretely to sign him.
The thing Bologna are reflecting on is Huddersfield’s valuation of Sobhi which is €5 million, per the Italian newspaper.
Ramadan would initially join Bologna to become the backup option for talented Gambia forward Musa Barrow, unless Bologna boss Sinisa Mihajlovic decides to play the latter as a center forward, the thing that would grant the former Stoke City winger a starting spot. Though negotiations are in a preliminary stage.
Bologna will want to strengthen their squad in order to build up on their 12th-place finish last season.
In case they managed to sign Sobhi, he will be the first Egyptian in Bologna’s history, and the sixth Pharaoh to play in the Serie A.
He will join the likes of Mohamed Salah, Hany Said, Hazem Emam, Ahmed Hossam Mido, and his former Al Ahly teammate Ahmed Hegazi.
