Report: Al Ahly manager Rene Weiler on Pyramids FC radar
Weiler became an instant fan favorite among Al Ahly supporters, mainly due to his impressive record of 26 wins, five draws and just two defeats across all competitions in 33 games in charge.
The 46-year-old also led the Reds to the top of the league table without a single defeat, reached the Egypt Cup round of 16, and qualified for the CAF Champions League semi-finals.
The Swiss’ contract with the Reds was set to end by the end of the current season but the club’s board member, Khaled Mortagy, had confirmed that he will remain at the club until the last game of the 2020/2021 season.
However, according to Swiss news outlet, Aargauer Zeitung, the former FC Luzen and Anderlecht manager has a clause in his contract that allows to leave at the end of September.
The report also suggests that Egyptian Premier League rivals, Pyramids FC, have shown interest in signing Weiler.
This would come as a huge blow for the Red Devils as they have already lost a number of players to the same team including Abdallah El-Said and Ahmed Fathi.
With Ramadan Sobhi seemingly close to joining Pyramids along with goalkeeper Sherif Ekramy.
