OFFICIAL: Patrice Carteron named Al Taawon’s new head coach
Saudi Professional League side Al Taaawon have appointed Patrice Carteron as their new head coach just hours after leaving Zamalek.
Carteron shocked everyone when he decided to leave Zamalek before the end of the season and resign as head coach.
The Frenchman had guided Zamalek to the Egyptian Super Cup title as well as the CAF Super Cup in the same week back in February.
He also led Zamalek to the CAF Champions League semi-finals after overcoming Esperance Sportive de Tunis 3-2 on aggregate.
However, Carteron is now set to take on a tough challenge in coaching Al Taawon, who finished 12th in the Saudi Professional League table last season.
The 50-year-old will be replacing Portuguese manager, Pedro Emanuel, who had led Al Taawon to Saudi Cup triumph in 2019.
Al Taawon are taking part in the AFC Champions League, leading Group C which consists of Al-Duhail, Sharjah, and Perspolis.
Their next game will be against Perspolis on Friday in the fourth round of the AFC Champions League’s group stages.
