Amr Marei comments on Al Ahly interest, criticizes Pyramids

Amr Marei

has criticized for not accepting an offer from Egyptian powerhouse to sign the striker.

After two solid seasons in the Tunisian Professional League with Etoile du Sahel, where he made 44 appearances during which he scored 10 goals while providing seven assists, the 28-year-old then secured a move back to his homeland with Pyramids FC in January 2019.

He failed to make an appearance during his first six months and was eventually sent out on loan to league rivals Misr El-Makkasa for one-year-and-a-half.

Since, he played 26 games with the Fayum-based side, scoring just seven goals.

Cairo giants, Al Ahly, reportedly showed interest in the former ENPPI forward. However, the move fell through as his parent’s club financial demands were too high.

Devastated by Pyramids’ approach to the negotiations, Marei criticized the club for not being more lenient.

“Of course I want to play for Al Ahly, I dreamed of this moment since I was a child,” he said.

“I don’t know if Pyramids actually demanded EGP40 million in order to let me go. If it’s true, I don’t know how they had the audacity to demand such a sum? They shouldn’t have asked for anything,” he added.
