Egypt director provides update on players physical conditions
The Egyptian national team’s director Mohamed Barakat has assured that the team contains no injuries ahead of the Africa Cup of Nation qualifier against Togo.
Egypt were drawn in Group G of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with Kenya, Togo, and Comoros.
They are set to resume the qualifiers next month as they face Togo twice, with the first encounter taking place on 9 November in Egypt, before they meet again eight days later away from home.
Barakat stated that Mohamed Hamdy El-Wensh suffers from no injuries, while Ahmed Hegazi was rested from Monday training due to jetlag.
“El-Wensh is 100% fit. We have reached out to Zamalek’s medical staff and coordinated everything with them, he is ready to play,” Barakat told ON Sport channel.
“El-Wensh’s good performances were what makes him qualified for a national team call up. If he was injured, he would never be summoned.
“We are highly optimistic about the outcome of these two games. El-Badry always speaks with the players about how he wants the national team to look.
“Hegazi joined the national team and took part in Monday training but was given a rest as he played only 48 hours ago.”
The Pharaohs had a poor start to the qualifiers, drawing their opening two games to Kenya and Comoros and will hope to get back to winning ways sooner than later.
