OFFICIAL: Ceramica Cleopatra sign Gervinho’s brother
Ceramica Cleopatra FC will take part in the Egyptian Premier League next season for the first time in their history.
They had struggled in the transfer window, not announcing any major signings until Sunday, which saw them recruit seven new high-caliber players, including Mohamed Ibrahim.
El-Makkasa trio Ahmed Mohsen, Mohamed Toni, and Mohamed Mossad, Pyramids FC’s Ragab Bakar, and Degla duo Abdelrahman Body and Abdallah Mahmoud have also completed moves to Ceramica.
Ahmed Amin, Mohamed Gamal, and Khaled Gamal were also three other names that were announced by the club.
However, their first foreign signing of the season is Ivorian winger Alphonse Yao Kouamé, known as Fonsinho, who is ex-Arsenal’s Gervinho’s younger brother.
Unlike his older brother, Fonsinho has never played outside of Africa, representing the likes of Mali’s JMG Bamako, Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosas as well as Africa Sports.
He has also never represented the Ivorian national team, but played for the U20 national team before, and the local team, representing his country in the 2018 CHAN.
The 24-year-old has been without a club since last March and has been injured for a long while, damaging his knee cartilage.
Fonsinho becomes Ceramica Cleopatra’s 11th summer signing as the club will aim to survive relegation at the first time of asking.
