TENNIS: Mayar Sherif loses ITF Spain 16A final
Just two weeks ago, Sherif beat Polish opponent Katarzyna Kawa with two clean sets to win the Charleston US Open.
She almost added another title to her career after reaching the final of the ITF Spain tournament, beating Germany’s Jule Niemeier on Saturday.
However, Mayar fell short in the final against former world No. 15 Kaia Kanepi, with the Estonian veteran winning with two clean sets.
Despite her defeat, Mayar is expected to rise up in the ATP rankings to reach a career-high place of 128, moving from their current 132nd spot.
This will be the highest-ever ranking an Egyptian female Tennis player has ever reached as Mayar keeps on setting new records.
