OFFICIAL: Ittihad sign Pyramids FC defender
Atwa spent only season at Pyramids joining them on a free transfer after his contract with Saudi side Al Raed was terminated.
The 30-year-old centre-back struggled to break into the first-team at Pyramids, with his only appearance at the club coming in their final league game of the season, a 2-2 draw with Arab Contractors.
In order to search for more playing time, Atwa decided to return back to Ittihad of Alexandria, penning down a two-year contract.
He becomes Ittihad’s second defensive recruitment in just two days after they acquired the services of Jamaica national team captain Damion Lowe.
Prior to his time with Pyramids, Atwa shone in Saudi Arabia with Al Raed, making 39 appearances for them, before leaving on a free transfer.
He also had stints with Misr El-Makkasa and Tersana, however, his most successful stint in Egypt came with Ittihad of Alexandria, who he represented in 40 games from 2016 to 2018.
Ittihad, led by Egypt legend Hossam Hassan could lift a trophy this season as they face African champions Al Ahly in the Egypt Cup semi-finals.
Despite an impressive start to the season, Ittihad finished the 2019-20 Egyptian Premier League campaign in 10th place.
