Al-Ashry leaves El-Gaish, Abdelhamid Bassiouny brought back
Egyptian Premier League outfit Tala’a El-Gaish have decided to accept the resignation of head coach Tarek Al-Ashry following the first team’s serious of underwhelming results, and former manager Abdelhamid Bassiouny was brought back.
El-Gaish had conceded their fourth defeat in a row in the 2020/21 season so far against Ittihad of Alexandria with a 2-1 scoreline.
The military club had also lost against Aswan, Misr El-Makkasa, and Ghazl El-Mahalla in the league this season to sit in the last place with one point.
El-Ashry’s 2019/2020 season was turbulent as well, as he struggled with both Haras El-Hodood and Al Masry, however, he led El-Gaish to Egypt Cup final, before losing to Al Ahly on penalties.
El-Ashry had taken over the Tala’a El-Gaish job following Abdelhamid Bassiouny’s departure before the start of the season.
However, the routes have reversed now and Bassiouny is now set to return to El-Gaish to replace the 56-year-old manager.
El-Gaish are now preparing to face Zamalek on Saturday in the sixth round of the Egyptian Premier League.
