Hegazi hopes to face Ismaily in Arab Club Championship final

defender has stated that he wishes to face his former club Ismaily in the final showdown of the Arab Club Championship.

Hegazi started for Ittihad in the Arab Clubs Championship semifinal which saw them defeat rivals Al Shabab 2-1 to reach the final.

They will now face either Morocco’s Raja Casablanca or Egyptian side Ismaily, with the latter having an upper hand in the first-leg, winning 1-0.

The return-leg in Morocco will be played on Monday, January 11 and the Yellow Dragons will hope to reach their second-ever final since 2004

Speaking after the game, Hegazi said: “Our primary target was to reach the final. We lost our concentration at the start of the game but we managed to come back after 15 minutes.

“I wish Ismaily luck in the semifinal. They are my former team, it’s my home and the fans deserve much better. However of course I hope Ittihad win the title at the end.”

The former Al Ahly and Ismaily defender will however miss the final due to accumulation of yellow cards

Hegazi is a product of Ismaily youth sector, representing the club from 2009 until 2012, before leaving to Italy’s ACF Fiorentina and then AC Perugia, Al Ahly, West Brom, and Ittihad Jeddah.

He has made a total of ten starts for Ittihad across all competitions since his arrival in Saudi Arabia.

The 29-year-old joined Ittihad on a one-year loan contract, with the Tigers having a mandatory option to make the deal permanent.

Hegazi is yet to lose a game this season as he is went unbeaten with , West Brom, and currently with Ittihad Jeddah.
