Former Egypt, Zamalek forward joins Arab Contractors
Former Egypt and Zamalek forward Ahmed Hassan Mekky has joined Arab Contractors on a free transfer.
After having been released by Smouha, Mekky has been struggling to find any takers and remained without a club for the past three months.
However, he appears to have impressed Arab Contractors manager Emad El-Nahas, and signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the club.
The 33-year-old becomes Arab Contractors’ first winter signing and is set to replace Mohamed Essam, who moved to Bank Al Ahly on Tuesday.
Mekky had burst onto the scene during his time with Haras El-Hodood, helping them to two Egypt Cups and the Egypt Super Cup, before earning a move to Zamalek in 2014
Despite winning the Egypt Cup with the Whites, Mekky struggled to make an impact in Cairo and after just one year, he returned back to Alexandria to join Smouha, where he remained until November 2020.
He also had loan stints at Libyan side Al-Ahly Tripoli and El-Gouna during his time with both El-Hodood and Smouha respectively.
Mekky has 28 caps to his name, scoring seven goals after making his debut in 2010 under the guidance of Hassan Shehata.
