OFFICIAL: Pyramids FC winger returns to Norway after underwhelming stint
Layouni had joined Pyramids in September 2019 for a fee of €1.50m from FK Bodø/Glimt of Norway, but he struggled to make any impact in Egypt.
Three goals and four assists in 20 games was his record on his debut season, helping the club to reach the CAF Confederation Cup, which they lost, as well as finishing third in the league.
The Swedish-Tunisian winger have also failed to play a single minute this season, making the bench just once in Pyramids’ defeat against Ittihad of Alexandria in the opening game of the 2020/21 season.
After falling down the pecking order and knowing that getting any playing minutes this season would be almost impossible, Layouni decided to leave for Eliteserien outfit Vålerenga.
Layouni is very experienced when it comes to Nordic football, having played there all of his career with Swedish clubs Dalkurd FF, Falu FK, IK Brage, Degerfors IF, before moving to Norway, where he represented Elverum, and FK Bodø/Glimt.
The departure of Layouni will allow Pyramids FC to register a new foreign player in their squad, with the club being linked with a sensational move for Bristol City striker Famara Diédhiou.
