Al Ahly’s Mohamed El-Shennawy tests negative for Covid-19

goalkeeper has recovered from Covid-19 after contracting the virus one week ago according to the club's medical staff.

Al Ahly announced earlier last week that Mohamed El-Shennawy's swab test result returned positive, which saw him miss the Cairo derby on Sunday.

The experienced shot stopper was replaced by second choice goalkeeper Ali Lotfi, who had to step up for such an important occasion.

It's fair to say that that the 31-year-old stole the show with his performance, after denying from an equalizer twice; once from the penalty spot and once in the final moments after denying his header.

Al Ahly went on to win the game 2-1, giving them a huge advantage in the title race as they now sit just three points below league leaders and have three games in hand.

The Red Devils play against Smouha on Thursday and it remains to been whether Mosimane will reward Lotfi with another start or if he will put El-Shennawy back in his natural position.
