Al Ahly coach reveals what makes Pitso Mosimane 'angry' in Egypt

Al Ahly coach Samy Komsan has defended Pitso Mosimane from the ‘irrational criticism' from the media, saying it angers South African.

Since signing for Al Ahly in October 2020, Mosimane has been quite successful as he won all competitions he took part in [ and ] apart from the Club World Cup where he finished third.

He now also reached the Champions League knockout stages with the Red Devils, where he will face either , Mamelodi Sundowns, or Esperance Sportive de Tunis.

However, there have been many question marks regarding the team's performance under his guidance as there has been a clear drop in form despite the good results.

Moreover, the club have been struggling with injuries since the start of the year, with over than 10 players sidelined, most notably Ayman Ashraf, Badr Benoun, Hamdi Fathi, Junior Ajayi, Ali Maaoul, and Yasser Ibrahim.

This led former head coach Mohamed Youssef to blame Mosimane for the injuries, saying it's caused by the poor physical workout the players endure under the South African.

However, Samy Komsan has come to Mosimane's defense, saying: “No team in the world can withstand the pressure of playing every 48 hours amid so many injuries.

“Yet still Mosimane and the technical staff receive scathing criticism.

“Mosimane is familiar with the nature of the work at Al Ahly and the pressure of the fans and tries to adapt with the situation, but sometimes he feels angry due to some irrational criticism or questions.

“There are those who hold Mosimane the responsibility for players' injuries, and this is completely irrational. It is completely beyond our control and we deal with each game individually, according to the circumstances that precede it,” he added.
