The Egyptian handball manager Roberto Garcia has named a 20-man squad that will accompany him to Tokyo to participate in the 2020 Olympics, scheduled to start on July 23.

Egypt qualified for the tournament after lifting the 2020 Africa Men's Handball Championship.

As the topped ranked team in Africa, they did not have to compete in any of the qualifying tournaments, meaning they secured direct qualification.

The Pharaohs were drawn in with two of the strongest nations in the likes of Denmark and Egypt had faced the two teams in the World Championship earlier this year which was held in Egypt and were a tough competition to the two sides.

Garcia's men are expected to fly to Spain shortly to hold a closed camp to prepare for the tournament with two friendly matches against Croatia and Spain.

Egypt's squad for Olympics:

Goalkeepers: Karim Hendawy, Mohamed Essam El-Tayar,

Outfield players: Omar Bakkar, Ahmed Momen Safa, Ali Zein, Yehia El-Derea, Hassan Walid Kaddah, Ahmed Hesham El-Sayed “Dodo”, Ahmed Khairy, Seif El-Derea, , Akram Yousry, Ahmed El-Ahmar, Yehia Khaled, Mohsen Ramadan, Mohamed Mamdouh Hashem, Ibrahim El-Masry, Wessam Samy Nawar, Ahmed Adel.

Egypt held the seventh place in the last World Championship in January, after they almost reached the semifinal before a thrilling loss to eventual champions Denmark on penalties.
