Abdel-Hamid Bassiouny appointed as Smouha head coach

Smouha have officially announced as club head coach following the departure of .

The Blues are currently fifth on the Egyptian Premier League table, with 27 points, one point behind newly-appointed Future.

Despite their convincing performances and good results, the club parted ways with head coach Ahmed Samy who is reportedly linked with a move to Ceramica Cleopatra.

Following Samy's departure, Smouha chose Ghazl El-Mahalla head coach Abdel-Hamid Bassiouny as a successor.

He coached the military team in over 75 games, before taking charge of Omani club Mirbat Sports Club during the 2017/2018 season.

He then returned to Egypt to serve as an assistant manager again, but this time at Zamalek to Khaled Galal, before taking the same role at El-Gaish with Tarek Yehia and Sergio Farias.

Following the sacking of the Brazilian coach, Bassiouny became the leading man at El-Gaish over two stints, leading the club to Egypt Cup final, before clinching the .

The 50-year-old then made another move, this time to Ghazl El-Mahalla who he led in only ten games, of which he won two, tied in four, and lost four.

Bassiouny's first task with Smouha will not be easy as he will aim to overcome in the Blues' upcoming clash in the Egyptian Premier League.
