Algeria manager didn’t expect Setif heavy defeat against ‘Africa’s greatest club’ Al Ahly

Algeria national team manager Djamel Belmadi has shown his admiration of following their huge victory over ES Setif in the CAF Champions League semi-finals.

The Red Devils put one foot in the after earning a dominant 4-0 win over ES Setif in the first leg of the semi-finals.

Taher Mohamed, , and were all on the scoresheet as Al Ahly are now on the verge of qualification to the final for the third consecutive season.

To add to their woes, ES Setif will be without midfielder Amir Karaoui in the return leg after receiving a red card for a reckless challenge on Hussein El-Shahat.

Watching the game from the stands in Cairo was Algeria manager Djamel Belmadi, who came to support his local side, but was stunned by the big scoreline.

“I came here to support ES Setif,” Belmadi said after the game.

“It was a difficult game for them because they played against one of 's greatest clubs, Al Ahly.

“There is also a player who was sent off early, and it is difficult to play with 10 players against Al Ahly, but this is football.

“There is a second half in Algeria. We don't know what will happen in the return leg, but it will be difficult.

“I didn't expect that result. I was expecting a tough game, but I didn't expect it to be that hard,” he added.
