Ethiopia manager hopes to beat ‘strong’ Egypt in AFCON qualifiers

Ethiopia manager hopes to beat 'strong' Egypt in AFCON qualifiers

Ethiopia head coach stressed that his team will play to win against Egypt despite the difficulty of their mission.

Two days ago, the Pharaohs emerged victorious against 1-0 in the first round fixture of the qualifiers.

In their next game, Egypt will be facing Ethiopia who just suffered a 2-1 defeat to Malawi.

The game will be taking place in Malawi as Ethiopia-based venues failed to meet the minimum requirements as per the CAF Club Licensing criteria.

Speaking to El Mehwar TV channel, Wubetu Abate stated that his mission to beat Egypt will without a doubt be difficult, especially with the game taking place in Malawi.

“We will try to beat Egypt despite having to play in a neutral venue,” Ethiopia manager said.

“I believe we could have won if we played at home, but it's much more difficult now.

“Egypt have a strong team, they have many players who can make the difference, not just Mohamed Salah.

“They have a lot of good players who play in and Zamalek, and they also have a lot of foreign-based players.”
