Abou-Gabal & Tarek Hamed to leave Zamalek as free agents

Abou-Gabal & Tarek Hamed to leave Zamalek as free agents

sporting director Amir Mortada Mansour confirmed that Mohamed Abou-Gabal and Tarek Hamed will leave the club as free agents.

Abou-Gabal has been out of the Zamalek squad in the last two games as he stated that he was injured during his time in the Egyptian camp.

However, Zamalek have not been able to confirm his injury, therefore he is now under investigation for his unjustified absence.

Tarek Hamed has also been in a similar situation, having been absent for weeks now as he traveled to for undergoing medical treatment without permission.

Both players' contracts end by the end of this season, and the club considered their absence to be a rebellious move, and as a result, Amir Mortada stated that their contract-renewal negotiations are now canceled.

“Tarek Hamed is undergoing investigation, he's been absent for weeks without permission and he just brought us a handwritten note,” Zamalek sporting director said.

“I can't understand the reason behind his actions, and he will not play for Zamalek even for free.

“Abou-Gabal said he was injured but the national team doctor said he wasn't, we are trying to understand when was he injured.

“The goalkeeper must tell the truth, and he will no longer play for Zamalek as well.”

A fan favourite and a club legend, Hamed had joined Zamalek back in 2014 from Smouha and since then has appeared in over 280 games for the club, guiding the team to 10 trophies.

Meanwhile, Abou-Gabal had joined Zamalek in 2013 from ENPPI, before leaving for Smouha three years later; however, the Whites signed him once again in 2019, and since then he became their number one between the sticks.
