OFFICIAL: Zamalek announce signing of Samson Akinyoola
zamalek have announced the signing of Benin international Samson Akinyoola from Venezuelan club Caracas FC ahead of the new season.
The 22-year-old will become the Whites' sixth signing after deals for Ibrahima Ndiaye, Nabil Dunga, Omar Gaber, Zakaria Al-Wardi, and Mostafa El-Zenary.
Akinyoola was plying his trade at Venzeulan club Caracas FC and arrives in egypt for a reported fee of around €1.20m.
During his time in South America, Akinyoola scored 28 goals and provided 11 assists in 67 games, winning the league's top scorer award in his debut season with 18 goals.
His performances also were rewarded with the best foreign player in the league award for the 2021 season as his team lost the playoffs final to Deportivo Táchira.
Born in nigeria, Samson came through the youth ranks of 36 Lion FC, who sent him on loan to Slovakian club Dunajska in 2019, before making a permanent move to the country, but through FK Senica.
Despite his impressive record, Samson has never represented his country on the international level, but was called-up for the first team during the latest September camp.
He will become the second-ever Beninese to represent Zamalek after Razak Omotoyossi, who played for the club between 2011 to 2014, scoring six goals for the club.
