41-year-old Mohamed Sobhi returns to Ismaily on a six-month contract

At the age of 41, goalkeeping legend Mohamed Sobhi has rejoined the club for a fourth spell till the end of the season after signing a six-month contract.

A product of Ismaily's academy, Sobhi was part of the club's golden generation that claimed the Egyptian Premier League title in 2002.

Following a 13-year spell with the club, Sobhi left Ismaily to join in 2014, where he played for one season, before returning to “El-Darawish” for a second spell.

Sobhi left Ismaily again in 2017 to wear the colours of Misr El-Makkasa for one season, and El-Dakhelya for two seasons before heading back to his hometown club where he last played prior to having his contract terminated in January 2021.

Sobhi is expected to add tons of experience to the struggling Ismaily's squad, as the 41-year-old goalkeeper has joined the club's training sessions.

Moreover, Ismaily announced two more signings on the January transfer window deadline day as they secured the services of Ittihad's left-back, Karim El Deeb, and Ivorian midfielder Serge Aka.

Ismaily have been struggling financially over the recent few years, with the three-time Egyptian Premier League fighting against relegation for the third successive season, as they sit at 17th, one point away from the safe zone.

Recently appointed Ahmed Hossam managed to get his first win in charge of Ismaily after beating El-Dakhleya 3-1 in the 16th round.

Ismaily will be facing Ittihad of Alexandria in the 17th round next Sunday.
