OFFICIAL: El-Hadary joins Hector Cuper's coaching staff in Syria

Egypt legend Essam El-Hadary will join 's coaching staff at the Syrian national team as a goalkeeping coach.

Former Egypt national team manager Héctor Cúper has been unveiled as Syria's newest manager on Thursday ahead of the 2023 Asian Cup.

His backroom staff saw the inclusion of two Egyptian, with the first being Mahmoud Fayez who assisted the Uruguayan during his stint in Egypt.

Essam El-Hadary is another Egyptian who will also accompany Cúper to Syria as a goalkeeping coach after terminating his contract with the EFA.

The 50-year-old was working as a goalkeeping coach with at the Egyptian U23 national team, which is set to take part in the 2023 U-23 AFCON qualifiers next month.

As a result, the EFA released a statement stressing they won't work with El-Hadary in the future after he didn't inform them of his decision earlier.

Essam El-Hadary is no stranger to Cúper, with the former goalkeeper being a key part of the squad that helped the reach the under Uruguayan.
