OFFICIAL: EFA appoint Pereira as head of refereeing committee

The Egyptian Football Association () have appointed former Portuguese referee Vitor Melo Pereira as head of the .

The EFA had accepted the resignation of the former referee Mark Clattenburg from his position two months ago.

After weeks of searching for a replacement, the EFA have now agreed a deal with Vitor Pereira to take charge of the league officials.

The 65-year-old has put pen to paper on a one-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him until the end of the 2023/24 season.

“Pereira was one of the most prominent referees in ,” the EFA said in a statement.

“He was an international referee for ten years between 1992 and 2002 and was one of the referees in the 1998 and 2002 World Cup tournaments as well as the Euros in 2000.”
