malawi's manager Mario Marinică has admitted the difficulty of the Egypt encounter, but still believes his side can cause an upset.
The pharaohs currently sit bottom of Group D in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification, having picked up three points from their opening two games.
Under the leadership of ehab galal, Egypt had beat guinea at home, before falling down to Ethiopia in Malawi, which led all teams of the group to tie on points; however, the Pharaohs' goal difference put them last.
Now with new manager Rui Vitória, Egypt will play two successive double-headers against Malawi, first on March 24 in Cairo, before facing each other again in Malawi four days later.
“The group is balanced and each team has chances. All teams have 3 points,” Mario Marinică said in his pre-match press conference.
“Each match starts with 50% chances for each team, and we will try to defend our 50% chance. We hope tomorrow to maintain second place.
“Mohamed Salah has global standing and played high-level matches against Real Madrid and Manchester United. He is an exceptional player.
“If we look at the Premier League, Salah contributed 200 goals with Liverpool by either assisting or scoring. He did not only contribute in only 10% of the matches, and we hope to become among this 10%.
“The egyptian national team is dangerous, a very dangerous group. They defeated world number one Belgium, but we believe in our chances in the match tomorrow.
“The return-leg will be in different circumstances, and I don't think that fasting will affect the Egyptian players and their preparations. If the Egyptian national team cared about fasting, they would have set the date for the first match earlier,” he added.
